Course Overview
Earn your honours degree and EASA Part-66 B1.1 licence. The only UK course double-accredited by the Civil Aviation Authority and European Union Aviation Safety Agency delivered on a single campus.
This unique course combines academic study with professional aircraft maintenance training, preparing you for a rewarding career in the global aviation industry. You will develop in-depth knowledge of aircraft systems, aerodynamics, propulsion, and maintenance practices, supported by hands-on experience in our fully equipped aircraft maintenance hangar and workshops.

What you’ll study
In your first year of study, you’ll learn the fundamentals first, with modules of maths, physics, mechanics and electronics. Then we’ll start applying these learnings to aerospace and commercial aircraft.
You’ll also gain hands-on experience through lab sessions and design exercises, developing problem-solving and analytical skills that form the backbone of engineering practice. By the end of the year, you’ll have a solid grounding in core principles and an understanding of how they relate to real-world aviation systems.

Teaching and Assessment
This is a time-intensive course that makes the most of your study hours each week. You can expect to spend about 27 hours each week between the classroom and practical facilities. We focus on making sure you complete your course ready to start working in the industry, so we teach first and show second, giving you the opportunity to get hands-on with aircraft in our hangar.

Meet Dr Nick Swan, a social anthropologist, digital religion researcher, and Course Leader for the MA Buddhist Studies. Nick leads this part-time distance learning course with a focus on practical relevance, drawing on years of research, teaching, and fieldwork in Buddhist settings. From fieldwork in Buddhist monasteries to cutting-edge research on religion and the internet, his teaching brings global perspectives to life. Entry Requirements
UK Students
To join the BSc (Hons) Aircraft Maintenance Engineering course, you’ll need to demonstrate a strong foundation in mathematics, science, or engineering, along with an interest in aviation technology and maintenance. We welcome applications from a range of educational and professional backgrounds.
Additional
GCSEs: The University normally requires a minimum 5 GCSEs including Mathematics/Numeracy and English at Grade C or Grade 4 or above, or their equivalent, but consideration is given to individual circumstances
